Texas Society of Certified Public Managers

The Texas Society of Certified Public Managers(TSCPM) is a professional association of public sector managers and is affiliated with the American Academy of Certified Public Managers (AACPM) and the National Certified Public Manager Consortium. The Society is composed of individuals who are current students or graduates who have earned their Certified Public Manager (CPM) designation.



MISSION

The mission of the Texas Society is to foster and maintain high professional and ethical standards in the practice of public management, and to further the professional growth of the Society's members.



PHILOSOPHY

The Texas Society believes that managers in the public sector have a responsibility to uphold the public trust; to provide service consistent with efficient and effective management practices; to pursue continuing educational opportunities; and to exercise enlightened leadership demonstrating vision and competence in professional management.



HISTORY

On July 11, 1997, the newly organized Texas Society of Certified Public Managers (TSCPM) met and adopted by-laws. There were twenty members of the newly formed Texas Society present. In September, 1997 the (TSCPM) submittal and received accreditation for membership into the National Academy of Certified Public Managers.



In May 2002 Naomi S. Hines (1998) Graduate was appointed Interim President of the Texas Society of Certified Public Managers by Program Director Howard Balanoff to fill the vacancy left by the departure of Scott Wall. Naomi was officially elected as President of the Society at the Texas Society of Certified Public Managers Annual Conference in October, 2003. Since its inception, TSCPM has graduated more than 900 students.
